Biography
Dr. Kingsley Donkor received his BSc (Hons) Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana and his MSc and PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Alberta. Upon graduation, Dr. Donkor conducted postdoctoral work in Environmental Analytical Chemistry at the University of Alberta. In 2000, Dr. Donkor joined Thompson Rivers University (TRU) as a faculty member, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Donkor’s research program focuses on developing sensitive analytical methods in capillary electrophoresis, chromatography, and mass spectrometry for the characterization of emerging contaminants in environmental matrices, determination of chemical molecular markers in food, agricultural and pharmaceutical products and optimization of analytical processes in the mining and oil sand industries.
Within his research program at Thompson Rivers University, Dr. Donkor has mentored over 170 undergraduate and MSc students. Dr. Donkor’s research has received funding from several agencies including Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada, Canada Foundation of Innovation (CFI), MITACS Canada and Western Economic Diversification Canada. Dr. Donkor’s work has been recognized with several awards including the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) President’s Distinguished Scholar Award, TRU Excellence in Scholarship award, TRU Master Undergraduate Research Mentor award, and the TRU Undergraduate Research Mentor award. Dr. Donkor is currently the Director for the BC central interior of the Canadian Society of Analytical Sciences and Spectroscopy.
